Marks and Spencer Roll Out
EPoS is moving at Marks & Spencer.
Marks & Spencer is one of the first UK retailers to trial PowerBase
mobile workstations. The PowerBase concept eliminates the need for data
cabling or power points which allows for total flexibility in store
layout. This in turn enables Marks & Spencer to position pay points in
the most effective locations.
“We are always trying to manage the balance
between ‘selling space’ and ‘paying space’ and the PowerBase solution
from Cash Bases has enabled Marks & Spencer store management to deploy
tills where and when they are required to meet business needs. We used
five mobile workstations in our flagship store at Marble Arch to support
the periods of increased sales activity e.g. over lunchtime periods in
our Food to Go sections and Lingerie and other fashion departments at
the weekends, returning these areas to selling space when the mobile
workstations were no longer required.”
Martin Joyce, M&S
The PowerBase workstations provide an uninterrupted power supply from
which an EPoS terminal can be run, integrating with the back office via
an RF network. Not only will they reduce queue times, they can also
encourage impulse buys, at special promotions or at key locations such
as outside changing rooms
